The latest update for R-Type Dimensions III 1.0.2 patch is now live. While the initial release successfully addressed high-priority stability issues, this second patch shifts focus to mechanical accuracy, aiming to align the gameplay feel more closely with the original arcade experience.
Core Gameplay & Fidelity Improvements
The update introduces several backend adjustments designed to normalize mechanical behavior across different hardware configurations:
- Mechanical Accuracy: The developer has reworked force docking behavior and the Cyclone Force red laser trajectory to mirror the original game’s mechanics, ensuring the laser now pierces through enemies correctly.
- Animation Synchronization: Fixed issues where the 2D charging animation played in reverse or at an incorrect speed, aligning it with the original arcade pacing.
- Performance & Timing: Resolved a bug where game time would desync during alt-tabbing and improved frame pacing for 2D assets, specifically within the Level 1 mech robot segments.
- Invincibility Logic: Players now gain temporary invincibility upon defeating a boss, accompanied by a new flashing animation.
- Audio Refinements: Fixed various audio loops, including charge sound effects and hyper-mode heat transitions, while resolving an issue where charge sounds would stick when toggling graphical modes.
Stage-Specific Logic Updates
Several levels received targeted fixes to correct hitbox behavior and enemy AI:
- Level 1: Corrected the Mode 7 pillar sequence to ensure robot spawn positions and timing match the original arcade specifications.
- Level 5: Fixed hitbox issues for the Cell boss and the WallSnakes; transforming enemies are now correctly flagged as invincible during their morph animations.
- Level 6: Improved collision accuracy for blue crabs and optimized the Mother Bydo fight by ensuring the final phase remains invincible while firing and improving projectile tracking at higher framerates.
