Sonic Racing: Crossworlds | 1.4.1. Patch Notes

SEGA has officially deployed Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Version 1.4.1, a significant mid-year update that brings major balance overhauls, new gameplay features, and the first wave of 35th-anniversary content. The update is available now across all platforms.

Sonic 35th Anniversary Roadmap

To celebrate the franchise’s 35th anniversary, SEGA has introduced a series of free character additions spanning from June through September.

  • Classic Sonic (Available Now): Players can immediately access the original design of Sonic alongside his exclusive vehicle, the Mach Cyclone.
  • Axel (August 2026): The Crazy Taxi protagonist joins the roster with a unique vehicle.
  • Amigo (September 2026): The Samba de Amigo icon arrives to round out the summer update cycle.

Version 1.4.1 Technical Highlights

Beyond the character reveals, this patch functions as a comprehensive balance pass aimed at increasing tactical build variety.

  • Gadget Overhaul: Eight new Gadgets have been added, specifically designed to support underutilized archetypes like Air Trick, Collision, and Item Hit builds.
  • Competitive Balancing: Significant adjustments have been made to item drop rates in Festivals and performance tuning for machine kits. Notably, the “Item Keeper” Gadget now provides protection against specific status effects like the red Warp Ring.
  • Quality of Life: The update adds native DualSense controller support for PC users, enables Chinese (Mandarin) voice support, and simplifies online play by standardizing CPU icons.
  • Audio Expansion: The in-game jukebox has been updated with nine new tracks from series including Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, Space Channel 5, and Burning Rangers.

This patch represents a rebalancing for the game, focusing on competitive fairness and deeper customization for players using the World Match and Legend Competition modes.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Store.
