KonNetwork is a space for people who find the technical and historical details of a game just as interesting as playing it. We skip the 24-hour news cycle and the race for clicks. Our goal is to build a permanent, analytical record of the medium.
Our contributors work as documentarians. We focus on the “Second Wave” of coverage: deep audits, technical reports, and retrospectives that provide value long after a game has launched. If you enjoy taking a game apart to see how it works, you will fit in here.
Who We Want
- Technical Analysts: Writers who treat game mechanics as systems and can explain them with clarity.
- Specialists: Experts in Survival Horror, JRPGs, or the history of Sega. We want contributors who want to cover the Girls’ Frontline universe and other Sunborn titles.
- Linux Enthusiasts: People who can perform technical verification on Nobara or other Linux-based setups.
- Researchers: Writers who care about crediting the full development team and providing historical context for the work they review.
Platform & Hardware Access
We need to make sure we can cover games across different environments. We look for analysts with access to at least one current-generation platform to verify performance and stability.
We want contributors with access to any of the following hardware:
- PC: Mid-range to high-end rigs or Linux-based setups (Windows or Linux-based setups using Proton/Mesa).
- Handhelds: Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, or similar devices.
- Sony: PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro.
- Microsoft: Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.
- Nintendo: Nintendo Switch or the Switch 2.
Our focus is on how a game performs for the average player. By testing on a variety of hardware, we can provide an accurate picture of technical health across the industry.
Our Standards
All contributors follow a few core rules to keep our quality consistent:
- Proper Attribution: Research and credit the key personnel. We honor the people who actually build the games.
- The B.E.I.V.T. Framework: Every review uses our specific structure for analytical consistency.
- Manual Verification: No AI-generated content. Every word comes from human observation and testing.
- No Hype: Presentation stays objective. We avoid misleading headlines.
Editorial Freedom
This is a volunteer project. We work without sponsorships or outside investors so we can stay independent. This is about building a portfolio of high-fidelity work that favors correctness over speed.
How to Apply
We prefer a real conversation over a formal application. Send an email to contact@thekonnetwork.com to start a chat. We are happy to talk one-on-one to see if your goals and perspective align with the site.
In your email, please include:
- A brief introduction: Tell us about your technical background and what games you are passionate about.
- Work samples (Optional): If you have any previous analytical pieces, feel free to link them. They help us see your style, but they are not a requirement to start the conversation.
We read every email personally and will get back to you directly if your style aligns with what we are building.
