Sonic Racing CrossWorlds | Red Joins as Free DLC

The Angry Birds Sonic Racing CrossWorlds DLC has officially launched, adding Red as a playable racer to the multi-platform title.

This crossover follows SEGA’s acquisition of Rovio and marks the first major integration of the property into the racing series. Red arrives alongside his signature vehicle, the Super Roaster, and three additional music tracks for the in-game Jukebox.

Character & Vehicle Technicals

Red is classified as a Speed type character. In the current meta, Speed characters prioritize high top velocity and specific gadget synergy. His vehicle, the Super Roaster, is designed to complement this archetype.

Players should note that an internet connection is required to claim the add-on data even though the character is free. Along with the racer, the following tracks are now available in the Jukebox:

  • “GO! Theme”
  • “GO! Theme (Final Lap)”
  • “Angry Birds Theme”

Angry Birds Festival Details

The celebration continues with the Angry Birds Festival, which is scheduled to run from April 16 through April 19. During this limited-time multiplayer event, racers earn Festival Points to unlock exclusive cosmetic items.

We have identified a specific UI bug noted by the developers. The “Speed Character Kit” is currently displayed in-game as “Speed Character Kit 2.” SEGA has confirmed this is a visual error and a fix is planned for a future update.

Integration Context

This update is part of a larger strategy to unify SEGA’s expanded IP portfolio. Red is the first of several planned free updates, with Goro Majima and Arle scheduled for release in the coming months. For those playing on Steam or through a Linux distribution, the update should be available for download immediately through the standard client update process.

The introduction of external characters like Red suggests a pivot toward a more expansive crossover model for the franchise, similar to the approach seen in other modern arcade racers.
