Code Vein II | 1.0.7 Patch Notes

Code Vein II Update 1.0.7 has arrived for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Steam. This latest version prioritizes technical stability by targeting specific processing bottlenecks that impacted the previous build.

The most notable changes involve optimizations to collision data and enemy spawn initialization. These adjustments specifically reduce the stuttering issues players encountered while riding the motorcycle through the game’s world.

Technical Performance & Optimization

Bandai Namco has refined how the engine handles assets during high intensity moments. Processing loads for partner outfits and boss attack effects are reduced. Optimization also extends to weapon and magic effects. These backend changes are designed to provide a more consistent frame rate across all supported hardware.

New Features & System Refinements

The update introduces several quality of life additions. We now have access to a difficulty selection feature for subsequent playthroughs. This toggle allows players to increase enemy strength for better Haze yields or keep them at their original power level.

The Affinity system received a significant UI overhaul. We can now track relationship progress with partners through a dedicated menu at Mistletoes. Progress is categorized into exploration, story, and gifting. This removes the previous ambiguity regarding how close a player is to reaching 100% affinity with a specific character.

Other feature additions include:

  • Auto-Collect: A new setting allows for the automatic collection of items upon physical contact.
  • Photo Mode Toggles: Wind effects on characters can now be disabled for better shot composition.
  • Heavy Weapon Audio: Hit sound effects for Two-Handed Swords and Hammers were replaced with more impactful audio assets.

Combat Balance & Logic Fixes

Weapon performance saw a broad sweep of adjustments. Many heavy weapons and specific weapon types now have a higher chance to disrupt enemies or break their guard. This should make heavy builds more viable in aggressive encounters.

Boss encounters were also rebalanced. Soul Savior Valentin and Hero Valentin received reductions to their healing capabilities and projectile speeds. Several hitboxes were adjusted to better align with their visual effects. These changes aim to fix balance discrepancies where certain attacks felt inconsistent or overly punishing.

Critical Bug Fixes

Ver. 1.0.7 resolves several logic errors that could impact a playthrough. We see fixes for a stamina regeneration bug where the bar would fail to refill even outside of combat. Additionally, character progression locks that occurred after updating from the launch version are corrected. World collision was also addressed to prevent enemies from becoming stuck inside level geometry or walls.
