R-Type Dimensions III patch 1.0.1 is live on Steam, delivering a massive list of fixes for broken hitboxes, weapon scaling, and unfair environmental deaths. Publisher ININ Games confirmed that the PC version is serving as the primary testbed for these stability updates.
Console players can expect the exact same adjustments as soon as platform-specific certification wraps up. Instead of wading through raw data, here is exactly what these gameplay changes mean for your next high-score run.
Fairer Hitboxes & No More Cheap Deaths
The biggest structural change targets oversized hitboxes that made classic navigation frustrating.
- Restored Safe Spots: Oversized ship and enemy hitboxes have been corrected. This brings back classic safe spots, including the well-known survival pocket in Stage 1.
- Environmental Bugs Squashed: You will no longer take accidental damage from the background thruster effects in Stage 1, which previously clipped players incorrectly.
- Stage 6 Scrolling Fixed: The scrolling speed in Stage 6 near the dimension hole has been adjusted. Previously, the layer moved too fast, creating near-impossible situations. Random deaths inside the dimension hole from clipping Bydo enemies are also gone.
Wave Cannon Scaling & Force Multipliers
Your main offensive options received major mechanical overhauls to ensure your weapons hit as hard as they should.
- Predictable Charging Damage: The Wave Cannon now features distinct damage tiers based on your charge level, scaling predictably at 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 damage. Each tier has unique visual indicators, and shots will now pierce through enemies until the total damage budget is spent.
- Boss Fight Tuning: The Mega Wave Cannon damage has been overhauled across all boss encounters. It can also erase a wider variety of incoming enemy projectiles to keep you safe.
- Force Logic Fixed: The Cyclone Force yellow laser bits now fire properly and block bullets like a true Force. Meanwhile, Shadow Force red lasers will no longer cancel each other out when spawning close to background walls in Stage 5.
Control Remapping & Audio Cleanup
- Custom Layouts: Left and right shoulder buttons are fully remappable. You can also assign the Hyper Mode beam change and scanline toggles directly to your face buttons.
- Audio Loops: Background tracks for Stage 1 and the bosses now loop smoothly without cutting out, fixing a glitch where audio tracks failed to restart after a player death.
