The Thick As Thieves introductory campaign launches for PC via Steam on May 20, 2026. Megabit Publishing and developer OtherSide Entertainment confirmed the $4.99 price point. This initial release functions as a foundation for a larger stealth action project.
16 Heist Missions & Kilcairn Map Details
The story takes place in Kilcairn, an early 1900s alternative history setting. The launch build features 16 missions spread across two replayable maps. The developers estimate this provides at least four hours of gameplay, with six distinct pieces of gear to unlock right out of the gate.
OtherSide CEO Paul Neurath stated that releasing the game in this modular format gets players into the world sooner. This approach gives the studio the flexibility to build future heist content based on how the community actually plays the game rather than guessing what they want.
Console Release Roadmap & Linux Performance
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions are coming at a later date, leaving the Steam release to test the waters first. For those of us running Linux, the tight scope makes this an easy target for Proton compatibility testing. OtherSide has strong roots in immersive sim design, so the AI detection systems and stealth mechanics will be the primary elements to evaluate on launch day.

Editor’s Take | Thick as Thieves Campaign
Shipping an introductory campaign for five dollars is a smart alternative to the standard Early Access model. It sets clear expectations immediately. Four hours of replayable stealth for the price of a coffee is a completely fair trade.
We much prefer this modular approach over studios charging full price for games built on empty roadmaps. The low price point lowers the barrier to entry, and if the core stealth loop is satisfying, expanding the city of Kilcairn over time will be a good fit for both the player and Otherside.
