Echoes of Aincrad Sword Art Online Demo Out Today

Players can finally get a hands-on taste of the next virtual reality world simulation. Bandai Namco and developer Game Studio have officially begun launching the Echoes of Aincrad Sword Art Online demo, letting fans test out the high-speed action RPG ahead of its retail release next month.

The demo versions are rolling out in staggered phases depending on your platform of choice. PC players get access first, with the Steam version live as of 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET today, June 15, 2026.

If you are waiting to play on home consoles, the download goes live for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S tonight, June 15 at 9:00 p.m. PT, which translates to midnight ET on June 16, 2026.

The full, retail edition of Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online is scheduled to launch on July 9 in Japan, followed immediately by its global worldwide release on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Alongside the Steam and console demo releases, Bandai Namco released a brand-new story trailer highlighting the core narrative arc of the upcoming campaign. The video shifts the spotlight onto the psychological weight of the Aincrad arc, showcasing the survival stakes, factions, and character relationships driving the gameplay loop.
