Steins;Gate ReBoot | Opening Movie
Technical & Visual Reconstruction

This project provides a massive visual change for the series. Original character designer huke has returned to redesign the cast with updated outfits and accessories. The user interface is also completely new. Beyond the character art, the developers rebuilt the streets of Akihabara using modern references to create a more grounded setting.
The gameplay still revolves around the Phone Trigger system. Players use Rintaro Okabe’s phone to send messages to the past, which creates branching timelines. This version also adds a brand new story scenario to the mix, offering fresh content for those who have already completed the original game.
Steins;Gate Re;Boot Physical & Digital Editions
Standard and limited physical editions are coming to PlayStation 5 and Switch 2. Digital versions are confirmed across all platforms. The physical limited editions focus on the 15th anniversary of the franchise and include art books and soundtrack collections that cover the history of the series.
Steins;Gate Re;Boot Release Date | Editor’s Take
Returning to the Steins;Gate story makes sense for the 15th anniversary and the ending of Anonymous;Code. The previous Steins;Gate Elite used animation frames from the anime, which stripped away the unique atmosphere of huke’s original art style. Going back to a dedicated visual novel engine with custom drawn assets is a win for the series.
The largest concern right now for many in the community is the script. Steins;Gate Elite is being used as the base rather than the 2009 original. This is a problem because Elite was known for cutting out nuance to fit the pacing of the anime. It will be interesting to see if the new story scenario and huke’s presentation make up for those potential cuts.
The other consideration for those who 100% all of the visual novels is what RE;BOOT could actually mean. As cryptic as that sounds, it is intentional. If you know how to place it, just look at the original Steins;Gate photos and notice the missing Gero Froggy. This acted as a visual motif to help tie Chaos;Head to Steins;Gate. Its absence here could signal a significant shift in how these entries are connected.
