Nintendo Switch 2 Price to Balance Affordability and Economic Factors, Says President

Nintendo’s next console, often called the Switch 2, will be priced with affordability in mind, but factors like inflation and exchange rates will also play a role. More details may be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 2.

Nintendo’s next console, often called the Switch 2, will be priced with affordability in mind, according to company president Shuntaro Furukawa. However, factors like inflation and exchange rates will also play a role.

During a Q&A session after Nintendo’s Q3 financial results (via VGC), Furukawa was asked if the company’s pricing strategy had changed due to global economic conditions.

He explained that Nintendo must consider Japan’s rising inflation and major exchange rate shifts since the original Switch launched in 2017. Despite these challenges, he stressed that keeping the price reasonable for customers is important.

“Nintendo products are known for being affordable, and we need to keep that in mind,” Furukawa said.

While Nintendo is reviewing these factors for the Switch 2’s price, Furukawa confirmed there are no announcements yet. He also stated that the current Switch models will keep their prices for now.

Fans eagerly awaiting the Switch 2 will need to wait for an official price announcement, but Nintendo remains focused on balancing cost and accessibility. More details about the Switch 2, including its pricing, may be revealed during Nintendo’s dedicated Direct on April 2. For everything we know so far, check out our full coverage here.
