Background & Context
Full Circle is the debut title from Peruvian solo developer 2ndPlayerGames, who originally taught himself game development with the goal of composing a traditional role-playing game soundtrack. The premise leans into classic post-apocalyptic themes, positioning humanity inside of protective flying cities while mutated beasts control the planet’s surface. Players follow a group of young heroes trained to salvage resources from the surface who accidentally uncover hidden settlements, rival factions, and deep structural secrets outside their isolated homes.
Key Details & Project Scope
Full Circle consciously models its mechanical and visual foundation after traditional late-1990s turn-based games, specifically citing IPs like Lunar, Breath of Fire, The Legend of Dragoon, and early Final Fantasy releases. However, the developer aims to update the formula with modern control responsiveness and elements that were impossible to execute on original 32-bit console hardware.
Core features include:
- Active Flow Combat: A turn-based battle layout that integrates real-time input timing. Players chain attacks together, trigger specific character combos, and swap active party members mid-combat.
- Party Composition: The tactical engine supports eight total characters, allowing players to build a squad utilizing four active combatants and four reserve units to exploit ability synergies.
- Environmental Obstacles: Character progression relies on a diverse roster where individual party members possess unique skills used both in battles and to clear specific map hazards during exploration.
- World Design: The game map features an interconnected mix of floating civilian platforms, ancient ruins, and untamed surface wilderness containing hidden side quests and salvageable technology.
Full Circle is currently available to wishlist on Steam. The game represents a highly personal milestone for 2ndPlayerGames, serving as the solo creator’s magnum opus after transitioning from music composition into full-scale game development. We will monitor Full Circle‘s progress as it heads toward its first public hands-on showcase at Gamescom.
