Xenoblade Chronicles | Nintendo Switch 2 Editions

The Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 2 Editions bring the numbered trilogy to Nintendo’s newer hardware with 60 FPS performance, higher-resolution visuals, and new content specific to each game. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are already available digitally, while Xenoblade Chronicles 3 follows on December 3, 2026.
All three target 4K resolution in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode at 60 frames per second. Players who already own the Nintendo Switch versions can purchase upgrade packs instead of buying the full games again.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrived digitally on June 9, 2026, followed by the physical release on July 30.
The most substantial addition is the Ether Jet, a high-speed vehicle for crossing the Bionis and Mechonis. It can also be used in dedicated races against the clock or other party members, with new equipment and outfits among the rewards. Future Connected receives the vehicle as well as its own visual improvements.
Heart-to-Heart conversations are now fully voiced in English and Japanese. Everything introduced with the 2020 Definitive Edition remains intact, including its redesigned interface, remastered music, quest improvements, and Future Connected epilogue.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launched digitally on July 30, with a physical edition scheduled for October 1.
MOMO joins the Blade roster with two forms and a new quest, while Merc Assault lets players directly control Blades sent on mercenary assignments. Pyra and Mythra also receive new outfits that appear during exploration and cutscenes.
Version 3.0.0 for the original Switch release arrived on July 22 to enable Switch 2 Edition compatibility. Nintendo says the update made no other changes to the original version.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country received the same visual and performance enhancements on July 30. Standalone digital and physical copies were updated for free, while players accessing Torna through the Expansion Pass receive the enhancements through the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 upgrade pack.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrives digitally and physically on December 3, 2026.
A new Hero and accompanying Hero Quest are being added alongside a defensive battle mode built around surviving waves of enemies. Nintendo has not yet identified the new Hero.
The release also adds full English and Japanese voice acting to event scenes, alongside the visual and performance upgrades shared by the other Switch 2 Editions.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition received separate Nintendo Switch 2 treatment in 2026 and remains part of KonNetwork’s dedicated Xenoblade Chronicles X coverage.
