The Resident Evil Requiem demo has officially launched, giving players a post-release trial of Capcom’s latest survival horror title.
Released after the full game’s retail debut, this standalone trial allows players to test the software across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Players can clear the opening stages immediately, though save data progress during the trial will not carry over to the retail edition.
Dual Operational Tracks & Trial Parameters
The layout of the demo shifts its mechanical focus across the two separate character paths. This design splits the pacing of the gameplay to showcase the game’s core mechanics.
The trial includes two primary gameplay systems:
- The Survival Track: Follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft through slower, claustrophobic interior spaces. Gameplay emphasizes resource management, environmental puzzles, and strict spatial awareness.
- The Combat Track: Switches to veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy. This path accelerates the action, focusing on mobile gunplay, crowd management, and high-velocity encounters.
Capcom coordinates these parallel paths to intertwine, creating a mechanical contrast between claustrophobic tension and active firefights following the ‘tension and release’ mantra director Nakanashi noted.
Resident Evil Requiem Demo | Editor’s Take
The Resident Evil Requiem demo being released post-launch works in Capcom’s favor. With over 4 million copies already sold and an expansion DLC on the way, the title remains heavily fixed in the community conversation. The trial gives undecided players a clean benchmark to test real-time performance on their specific PC builds or console hardware. Locking progress behind the demo remains an odd choice, openly breaking away from a consumer-friendly industry trend.
Resident Evil Requiem is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Game Store. We reviewed Requiem around the launch window an awarded it a 9.5/10 for its refinement upon the series formula and respect to the previous entries.
