Nintendo Pledges to Stop Switch 2 Scalpers and Ensure Smooth Launch

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirms measures to prevent scalpers from hoarding Switch 2 stock. With a strong launch strategy and ample supply, Nintendo aims to avoid past shortages. Full details expected in April 2nd Direct.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has assured consumers that the company will take steps to prevent resellers from disrupting Switch 2 availability. Speaking to Nikkei (translated via VGC), he stated, “We will take all possible measures based on our experience to date.”

Reports suggest Nintendo delayed the console’s launch to ensure sufficient stock and a strong game lineup. Analysts predict high demand, with Circana estimating over four million U.S. sales in 2025 and DFC Intelligence projecting 80 million units sold by 2028.

Despite the upcoming launch, Furukawa confirmed continued support for the original Switch ‘as long as there is still demand’. A full Switch 2 reveal is expected during the April 2nd Nintendo Direct.
