Lainie Overview

Detailed character profile for Lainie in our Lainie GFL2 guide highlighting her 16LAB and curiosity traits.
The optimistic ray of light ready to serve 16LAB.
Lainie brings her curious spirit to the human team.

Lainie is a Physical support unit disguised as a Sentinel. Her main value is providing massive defense penetration (Def Pen) to her squad. Her performance is tied directly to Voymastina. If you are not running a high-tier Physical carry, her utility drops significantly.

  • Seiyuu: Emi Uema
  • The Gimmick: Lainie “clones” herself via her passive. This Simulacrum applies the defense ignore debuffs and can be controlled independently with its own skills.
  • Stat Priorities: Her passive converts HP into Critical Chance. Balance your health pool to maximize her crit ceiling.
  • Recommended Attachments: Close Assault, Physical Boost, or Phase Strike.

Lainie’s Skills & Keys

Lainie features native defense shredding. As you stack defense ignore, her damage output climbs.

Understanding Laine (UMP-40)’s Keys

  • Complete Liberation (Common Key): Simple power scaling. It adds a 5% Attack boost and increases damage dealt to enemies with 0 or lower defense by 10%.
  • Neural Bonds (Fixed Key): Essential for survivability. When Lainie or her clone receives healing, the other unit is also healed for 20% of their maximum health.
  • Sunlight’s Warmth (Fixed Key): Retaliation mechanic. After being attacked, the next usage of her Ultimate skill, Crushing Fang, increases damage dealt by 15%.
  • OGAS’ Might (Fixed Key): Armor shredding. Critical Damage dealt to enemies with 0 or lower defense is increased.

Expansion Key: Algorithmic Stack

This is the definitive build anchor for high end play. It improves the effects of Parapluie’s Penetration by increasing defense reduction by an additional 6%.

The real value comes from the CI scaling: for every point of Confectance Index Lainie possesses, both she and her Simulacrum gain a 15% Critical Damage boost when using their active skills. Additionally, as long as the Simulacrum is alive, both units gain 2 tiles of extra mobility.

Laine (UMP-40)’s Situational Keys

  • Bad Stuff, Shoo!: When Lainie or her clone uses their respective Cognitive skills, the attack knocks the target back by 2 tiles. Use this for map displacement and breaking cover.

Tactical Note: The Lind Synergy
Lainie is a prime candidate for jail strategies with Lind’s fixed key. Just make sure to summon the clone first before using the jail mechanic to maximize your board presence.

Wait… didn’t we meet in a different life?

Vertebrae Breakpoints:

  • V0: Provides 20% Defense Pen. This is the baseline entry point for Physical teams.
  • V3: Increases Defense Pen to 40%. This is the suggested stopping point for most serious players.
  • V6: Only recommended if you are fully committing to the Physical meta. It increases her movement by 2 tiles and personal damage.

Verdict: Skip her if you are not building a dedicated Physical squad. She is a specialized tool for Gunsmoke. If you do not care about competitive bossing, she is a safe skip.

Lainie Team Recommendations

Lainie belongs in very specific environments. Outside of Physical-focused squads, she struggles to find a home.

The “Mono-Physical” Core

  • Main DPS: Voymastina (V6)
  • Sub-DPS: Yoohee (V1)
  • Support: Lainie (V0/V3)
  • Flex Slot: Ullrid, Daiyan, or Faye.
  • Strategy: Lainie acts as the Def Pen totem. Her job is to ensure Voymastina and Yoohee are always hitting against zero-defense targets, maximizing the “Shredding Legato” scaling.

The “Corro-Physical” Hybrid

  • Main DPS: Voymastina (V6)
  • Sub-DPS: Klukai (V6)
  • Support: Lainie (V0)
  • Sustain: Lind (V0)
  • Strategy: Use Lind for displacement and jail utility while Klukai provides AOE pressure. Lainie ensures Voymastina reaches the 400% Def Pen threshold for single-target deletion.

Perihelion | Lainie’s Signature Weapon

The signature submachine gun Perihelion data sheet and defense penetration stats in our Lainie GFL2 guide.
A modified submachine gun built for extreme stopping power.
Perihelion turns the tide by shredding through enemy defenses.
  • Effect: Ignores up to 40% of target defense. If other allies have the same effect, she ignores an additional 25%.
  • Trait: Deals fixed stability damage against targets with 0 or lower defense.
  • The Verdict: Unless you are pushing Lainie to V6, the weapon is a luxury. Juggernaut, Svarog, or the standard UMP40 work as placeholders.

Klukai & Lewis Rerun Banners

The Operation Butterfly update brings back two powerhouses for Commanders who missed their initial runs.

  • Klukai Rerun: The queen of map clears. Her kit centers on spreading Corrosion and resetting her Ultimate cooldown. V6 remains the gold standard for total map domination.
  • Lewis Rerun: A Fire Sentinel focused on Salvo damage and rotation efficiency. She is fully functional at V0, though V2 offers a significant improvement to her Ember generation.

Closing Thoughts | Lainie Breakdown

The arrival of the Operation Butterfly outfit and Lainie’s debut marks a pivotal moment for Physical teams. While Lainie is not your primary damage dealer, she is the key that unlocks the potential of units like Voymastina.

Secure Lainie at V0 or V3 if you are a competitive Physical main. If you need a map-clearing powerhouse, prioritize the Klukai rerun. Good luck with your procurement, Commander.
