The Hundred Line Is Selling Well, Kodaka Confirms Too Kyo Games’ Future Is Secure

Kazutaka Kodaka confirms The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is performing well, saying bankruptcy is “not a serious future” for Too Kyo Games. Here’s what that means for the studio—and what could be next.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy isn’t just Too Kyo Games’ latest project—it’s their first fully original and self-owned IP. Directed by Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka, the title is a massive undertaking: over six million Japanese characters of scenario text, 100 different endings, and a scale that pushed the studio’s staff to their creative and logistical limits.

With that level of investment, there was a lot riding on its success—and so far, it looks like the gamble is paying off.

In a recent Bloomberg interview, Kodaka shared that the game is “selling pretty well,” though he didn’t provide exact figures. More importantly, he stated he doesn’t see bankruptcy as a “serious future” for the company, suggesting the game has found a strong enough audience to keep Too Kyo Games on stable footing.

Kodaka has previously said he’d like to pursue DLC, an anime adaptation, or even a sequel—and this is the first concrete indication that the studio might actually be in a position to do so.
