Gravity Circuit 2 Announced With Two Playable Characters for 2027

Following up on their excellent 2023 retro throwback, developer Domesticated Ant Games and publisher Dear Villagers have officially announced Gravity Circuit 2. The high-speed 2D action platformer sequel is currently locked in for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Story-wise, the peace established in the first game doesn’t last long. A mysterious new Ark has appeared in the sky, bringing along a nasty hostile force called the Hunter Army.

New Protagonists & Swappable Playstyles

The biggest shakeup this time around is that you get two completely different playable characters. Kai, the blue hero from the original game, is back with his up-close martial arts punches, fast dashes, and trusty grapple hook. But now he is teaming up with a second protagonist named Cable, the Power Circuit. Cable plays completely differently, swapping out fists for long-range energy projectiles, extra mid-air jumps to hover over danger, and a mechanic that lets you turn smashed enemies into extra ammunition.

Playable heroes Kai and Cable share a fist bump inside the green-lit HQ hub area in Gravity Circuit 2 beneath digital signs pointing to the training room and archives.
Players can head back to the newly expanded HQ hub area between stages to swap between characters.

You don’t have to worry about missing out on content either, because both characters share the exact same campaign. You can just head back to your HQ hub between missions, swap characters, and tackle the next stage with whichever playstyle you are feeling at the moment.

Expanded Customization & Bigger Stages

The upgrade systems are getting a massive expansion too. You will be able to grab new abilities from defeated bosses using Circuit Shards, stack up to 30 different passive Booster Chips, and equip up to 40 devastating Burst Techniques to clean house.

The game launches with over a dozen stages, which includes 8 main Hunter Circuit boss levels. You will be blasting through everything from artificial forests to massive weather control towers. The developers are also building out a much bigger HQ hub area packed with shop vendors, training rooms, and a jukebox where you can kick back and listen to the new soundtrack by returning composer Dominic Ninmark.
