Spike Chunsoft has revealed Danganronpa 2×2 Slayhem Mode, an alternate story, a redesigned 3D World Map, and updated character portraits. The publisher also confirmed the game has been delayed from its planned 2026 release window to early 2027.
The title is currently scheduled to launch for Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Danganronpa 2×2 Slayhem Mode Explained

Unlike the original Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa 2×2 gives players two ways to experience the game. Original Mode retells the 2012 story with enhanced visuals and updated presentation, while Slayhem Mode follows an entirely different chain of events after a pivotal incident. According to Spike Chunsoft, the alternate storyline features different victims, culprits, and murder tricks while offering roughly 20% more content than Original Mode. Both options are available from the beginning of the game.
World Map Receives a Full 3D Overhaul
Another major change is the redesigned World Map.
The World Map has also received a major redesign. Replacing the side-scrolling navigation from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa 2×2 introduces a fully 3D version of Jabberwock Island. Players can freely explore the island on foot or instantly fast travel between destinations, while a first-person view helps emphasize the tropical setting.

Character Portraits Have Been Redesigned

Spike Chunsoft also showcased redesigned character portraits featuring new artwork for the returning cast. While only a portion of the updated illustrations was revealed, they reflect the broader visual refresh coming to Danganronpa 2×2.
