CODE VEIN II: Mask of Idris will take players into the mysterious Forsaken World, introducing a new storyline, two major characters, and additional post-game content through a free Version 2.0 update.
Bandai Namco has unveiled the first details for the upcoming expansion, confirming that Mask of Idris and the free Version 2.0 update will launch together. While neither has received a release date, both promise to expand the game’s narrative and endgame experience with a new realm, additional companions, and fresh activities for veteran players.
Forsaken World Expands CODE VEIN II’s Story
Mask of Idris takes players into the Forsaken World, a realm formed from the remnants of collapsed timelines. Fragments of forgotten worlds and lost histories have converged around a growing mass of lingering emotions, creating an unstable dimension that continues to draw in pieces of other realities. As the corruption spreads, the boundaries between worlds begin to collapse, threatening to consume even those beyond the Forsaken World itself.
Throughout the expansion, players will explore this fractured landscape while uncovering its history and confronting enemies born from the collapse of multiple realities. Bandai Namco describes the new setting as a central pillar of the expansion, combining new environments with a mystery that unfolds as players push deeper into the realm.
Liv Voda & Lou MagMell Join the Cast
The expansion introduces two new characters who will play major roles throughout the story, each bringing their own connection to the Forsaken World and its growing instability. While both serve as allies during the adventure, their backgrounds and motivations appear to be very different.
Liv Voda is a former guardian of the Temporal Rift who abandoned her duties long ago. As her emotions intensify, her appearance transforms to reflect the immense power she commands in battle. Players will also meet Lou MagMell, a revenant dedicated to stopping the Forsaken World’s expansion. Although she guides players throughout the journey, Bandai Namco has hinted that her true motives and her relationship with the mysterious realm remain hidden.
How to Access Mask of Idris
Bandai Namco also confirmed that players will need to complete specific milestones in the base game before the expansion becomes available. This ensures the new storyline begins after the events of the main campaign and is intended for players who have already reached the game’s ending.

Free Version 2.0 Update Arrives Alongside the DLC
The launch of Mask of Idris will coincide with the release of the free Version 2.0 update, giving all players access to new post-game features regardless of whether they purchase the expansion. While Bandai Namco has yet to outline every addition, the update will expand endgame activities and introduce new ways to continue exploring the world with companions after finishing the main story.
