Capcom has officially revealed Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror franchise. The game launches on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, with a public demo playable for the first time at Gamescom 2025 from August 20 to 24.

Built in RE ENGINE and leveraging modern hardware, Requiem promises the most immersive experience in the series to date. Expect the return of Raccoon City, complete with grotesque detail—from high-fidelity sweat rendering to facial animations that border on uncomfortable realism. According to Capcom, this entry combines psychological horror with high-tension action in a way that leans fully into the series’ roots.

Dual Perspectives Confirmed

During Summer Game Fest 2025, press previews confirmed that Requiem will support both first- and third-person camera modes, which players can toggle at any time via the pause menu. While third-person has traditionally defined the franchise, recent entries like Resident Evil 7 and Village introduced and popularized first-person immersion—something fans can now seamlessly switch between based on personal preference.

Global Support and More to Come

Resident Evil Requiem will feature voiceovers and subtitles in English, Japanese, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin, with additional subtitle options in Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, and Polish.

This is just the beginning. Capcom has teased more reveals in the months ahead, building up to a playable showing at Gamescom. The nightmare returns in 2026—will you survive?
