About TheKonNetwork
TheKonNetwork is an independently run gaming site focused on honest reviews, curated news, and meaningful commentary. Founded by a lifelong gamer, our mission is simple: provide thoughtful analysis, spotlight under-the-radar releases, and share a real love for gaming across genres, generations, and platforms.
Meet the Founder
It all started with Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis, the moment everything clicked. Since then, that passion has expanded into a love for horror, JRPGs, action games, racers, platformers, and fighters. The Sega Dreamcast? Still a personal favorite.
All-time standout titles include Parasite Eve, Deus Ex, Max Payne 2, Shadow Hearts, God Hand, Devil Survivor, and The House of the Dead 2 — games that took risks, left a mark, or simply never stopped being fun.
TheKonNetwork was born from that same spirit, aiming to champion the titles that matter, whether cult classics, AAA releases, or overlooked gems, and to tell the stories behind the games and the creators who made them.
Industry Recognition
TheKonNetwork has been honored to have reviews shared and acknowledged by key industry figures, including:
- Aksys Publishing
- Frank DeWindt II, COO of Aksys Publishing
- Doekuramori, developer of The Citadel and Beyond Citadel
- Mothman47, composer of Beyond Citadel
These endorsements inspire us to continue providing in-depth, thoughtful coverage of indie and niche games.
What We Do
We’re not just another review site. Every review here is spoiler-free and built on our custom B.E.I.V.T. system:
- Background – Development history, platforms, and context
- Experience – Our history with the series, developer, or genre
- Impressions – In-depth thoughts on gameplay, design, and audio
- Verdict – A fair, no-score summary
- TLDR – A concise final take with pros, cons, and a score out of 10
This structure balances depth with clarity, designed for readers who want more than a score.
Our Mission
We aim to revive the spirit of classic game journalism, like that found in Nintendo Power or Official Dreamcast Magazine. Our reviews go beyond verdicts; they are part of a broader conversation about game design, player experience, and what makes games worth remembering.
Built on Transparency
- We Buy What We Play: Unless otherwise stated, all reviews are based on independently purchased copies.
- If It’s Free, You’ll Know: Any provided review copies are clearly disclosed.
- You Matter: We welcome feedback, questions, and suggestions, which help shape a better site for everyone.
Every review on TheKonNetwork is grounded in experience, curiosity, and honesty, never marketing.
Editorial Independence
We’re dedicated to games first. There are no paid sponsors, no outside investors, and no agendas, political or otherwise. What we cover is based on merit, not marketing calendars.
Our opinions are our own, and we stand by them.
Linux Compatibility
Games tagged with Linux have been tested and confirmed via ProtonDB to meet Gold rating or better before being listed.
