The wait to test out the portable iterations of Media.Vision’s latest monster-battling RPG is over. Bandai Namco has officially dropped a playable Digimon Story Time Stranger Switch 2 and standard Switch demo on the Nintendo eShop, ahead of the game’s launch next month.
The game is already live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This surprise eShop release allows Nintendo players to finally test the engine performance and structure on both last-gen and current-generation handhelds.
The global launch schedule of the full release for Switch systems is set for Thursday, July 9 in Japan, followed by a worldwide retail release on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Save Data & Transferring
The main incentive for jumping into the eShop slice right away is the save data transfer. Bandai Namco confirmed that all forms of progression metrics, party, leveled Digimon, and items obtained during the demo will transfer directly into the full release next month.
This layout mirrors the current state on current home consoles and Steam. By keeping your save file intact on your system storage, you can pick up your progress exactly where the demo left off on launch day without needing to clear the introductory tutorials or early-game grinding zones a second time.
