Japanese video collective Archipel has released a brief but intimate documentary on Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, spotlighting Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa), Kotaro Uchikoshi (Zero Escape), and other key members behind the project.
In typical Archipel fashion, the video trades bombast for calm, reflective insight. It covers everything from the intense workload and creative ambition to the risk involved in launching a new IP in today’s market. Kodaka and Uchikoshi speak candidly about their headspace during development—how they approached tone, structure, and storytelling.
Masafumi Takada, best known for his work on Danganronpa, Killer7, God Hand and No More Heroes, also appears, offering thoughts on how his music shaped the game’s atmosphere and emotional beats. His contribution ties together the game’s mood, echoing the tension and uncertainty its cast faces across 100 days of survival.
Hundred Line, co-developed by TooKyo Games and Media.Vision, launched exclusively on Nintendo Switch and PC on April 24, 2025, published by Aniplex. The game blends visual novel storytelling with strategy RPG elements, following 15 characters trapped in a school while fending off strange threats.

The documentary doesn’t spoil the plot, making it safe for anyone still working through the game—though, as always, tread lightly in the YouTube comment section if you want to stay unspoiled. For fans of Kodaka, Uchikoshi, or Takada’s work, this short film adds meaningful insight into what shaped Hundred Line and why it stands out.
