Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina Announced for Early 2027

Publisher Aniplex and developer French-Bread have officially announced Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina for a multi-platform release. The fighting game will launch in early 2027 and serves as an updated entry in the long-running anime fighter franchise, building directly on the foundation of the previous title.

French-Bread is positioning this release as a major expansion of the core fighting engine. The development team promises refined battle mechanics, which will likely tweak the existing Moon Skill and Moon Drive systems for better competitive balance. The roster is expanding with new characters joining the fray to support the original story scenario, which TYPE-MOON’s Kinoko Nasu describes as a new tale of conflict stirring within a dream.

Steam Sale & Legacy Compatibility

While we wait for the 2027 window, the current entry in the series is seeing a massive price cut. Melty Blood: Type Lumina is currently 70% off on Steam until May 7th as part of the Golden Week promotions. This is the lowest price point we have seen for the title, making it the perfect time to learn the mechanics before the update arrives.

Language Support & Platforms

Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina targets a broad global audience right at launch. It will feature extensive language support, including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The voice over language will be in Japanese only.

The confirmed launch platforms cover current and last-generation hardware:

  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Nintendo Switch 2
  • PC via Steam

Technical Context & Linux Compatibility

Fighting games require strict 60 FPS frame pacing for competitive play. Since French-Bread utilizes a highly optimized 2D engine rather than heavy 3D rendering like Unreal Engine, the PC hardware requirements should remain extremely low. For Linux players, the previous game Type-Lumina ran perfectly through Proton without any shader compilation stutter. We expect Twi-Lumina to offer the same flawless day-one compatibility on modern Linux desktop environments.
