Legendary Bosses Enter the Fray
The DLC introduces three legendary foes that Joe Musashi must defeat. These battles are not just simple reskins. They take place in five new stages inspired by the classic franchises these villains call home.

Goro Majima: The “Mad Dog of Shimano” from the Like a Dragon (Yakuza) series.

Dr. Eggman: The mechanical genius and primary antagonist of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Death Adder: The ruthless giant from the Golden Axe series.

Free Update: Hardcore Mode and Technical Fixes
Alongside the paid DLC, all players will receive a free update patch on April 3. The most significant addition is a new Hardcore Mode for players who want to test their ninja precision.
The patch also brings combat system adjustments and visual updates. These include improvements to character outlines, the in-game map, and tutorial display features to help streamline the experience.
Editor’s Take
The inclusion of Goro Majima in a Shinobi game is the kind of fanservice that makes sense for this world. Lizardcube has a history of treating classic IPs with incredible care. Seeing them pull from Golden Axe and Like a Dragon shows they are leaning into the wider SEGA ecosystem.
The SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains DLC seems like a solid value at the $9.99 price point. Adding five full stages is more than just a boss pack. It is also good to see a free update addressing the technical side of the game. Character outlines and map displays might seem like minor fixes, but in a fast action game, clarity is everything. We are curious to see how Dr. Eggman’s tech focused boss fight translates into the traditionally supernatural world of Joe Musashi.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is available on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam.
