VNDB founder Yorhel passed away on March 17, according to an announcement from the website’s moderation team. This is a massive loss for the visual novel community that he helped build and maintain for years.
The staff is currently looking for ways to keep the website online. They plan to share more information soon once the future of the database is settled.

Today is a devastating day for visual novel fans. VNDB was more than an information resource; it was a bridge. It allowed fans to share recommendations and gave overseas readers a way to communicate and foster relationships over their shared interests.
Yorhel was a fan of Ever17, and that fondness of the Infinity series led to a beautiful ambition. That vision allowed many to not only find appreciation for the series, but also a place to call home. The sense of community and friendship that exists today wouldn’t be possible without Yorhel and the rest of the team that shared his dream.
