With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launching in July 2025, fans are wondering if the iconic Underground series will finally get its turn. Tony Hawk is wondering too.
Speaking to Screen Rant during THPS Fest, the skating legend made it clear that he’d love to see Tony Hawk’s Underground remastered. But as he put it, “It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.”
That company, of course, is Activision. And while THUG hasn’t been officially discussed, Hawk hinted that the upcoming release of Pro Skater 3 + 4 could influence what comes next: “We haven’t even released this game,” he said candidly, adding that it’s too early to tell whether Underground will follow.
Underground Still Has a Dedicated Fanbase
Tony Hawk’s Underground was a major shift from the traditional Pro Skater formula. While the latter focused on trick-based runs in preset levels, Underground gave players the ability to create their own skater and progress through a more story-driven campaign. It felt like a skating adventure rather than just a high-score chase, and it left a lasting impression.
Despite Pro Skater’s commercial success—especially during the Neversoft era—Underground remains a cult favorite for many longtime fans. Its unique structure, blend of narrative and gameplay, and memorable soundtrack all helped it stand out.
The remastered Pro Skater 1 + 2 proved there’s still a strong audience for the series. After a rumored cancellation in 2022, THPS 3 + 4 is now back on track, and its success could determine whether Underground gets its shot.
For now, Tony is hopeful—but realistic. He’s on board, but it’ll take more than nostalgia to bring THUG back. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches July 11, 2025, on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
