Capcom debuted new footage of Resident Evil Requiem during Gamescom 2025: Opening Night Live, giving fans a deeper look at Grace Ashcroft and her troubled past.
About The Game
Set 30 years after the Raccoon City outbreak, the game follows Grace, a young FBI analyst, as she returns to the city to confront haunting memories while investigating a new case. The footage teases this pivotal chapter in the survival horror saga, positioning Requiem as both a continuation and a fresh start for the series.
Capcom also revealed a 30th anniversary logo and commemorative illustration featuring Grace alongside classic characters from the franchise’s history, ahead of the milestone in March 2026.
A new gameplay demo was also showcased.
Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
Editor’s Take
Requiem seems to strike a middle ground between the unsettling atmosphere of Resident Evil 7 and the more cinematic, if uneven, moments of Resident Evil 6—like Leon’s opening sequence. From the gameplay demo, it feels like Capcom is recapturing that slow-burn unease that made RE7’s Beginning Hour demo so effective.
The real test will be whether it nails the downtime pacing that made Resident Evil 4 and the 2002 remake so enduring, instead of desensitizing players with constant tension. Here’s hoping they get it right.
