The Resident Evil 4 DRM update released by Capcom today is a 77.2MB patch that removes the Enigma Protector from the 2023 reimagining.
This change is unexpected because Capcom added the software to the three year old game only a few months ago. Usually, patches provide performance increases, but this specific DRM caused issues for many players. It is a good move for Capcom to walk back the unnecessary update.
While I now have to redo the performance section of my upcoming Resident Evil 4 (2023) review to reflect these changes, the game is better off without the extra layer of digital rights management.
