Developer Nippon Ichi Software has announced the passing of its president, Tetsuhisa Seko, at the age of 55 on January 24, 2025. Seko had been a pivotal figure in the company’s leadership, overseeing the development and release of many beloved titles under Nippon Ichi’s banner, including the long-running Disgaea series.

The announcement, shared by Representative Director Saruhashi Kenzo, included a brief overview of Seko’s career and contributions. Seko joined Nippon Ichi Software in 2002 after previous roles at SNK Corporation and Toshin Corporation. He held several key positions at the company, including General Manager of the Business Content Division and Senior Managing Director, before becoming President and Representative Director in July 2020.

The company’s official statement expressed gratitude for Seko’s contributions: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your kindness during his lifetime and would like to inform you of this with all our heart.”

As a result of his passing, Seko stepped down from his role on January 24, 2025. While Nippon Ichi Software’s number of directors has been reduced, the company confirmed it remains compliant with the legal requirements for its board of directors.
