Koei Tecmo has confirmed a Nioh 3 demo for January 29, 2026. Players can move demo save data into the full game. So, progress carries over at launch.
Also, the demo includes online multiplayer for up to three players. This lets players team up and tackle missions together.
Early Purchase Bonus Details
At the same time, Koei Tecmo revealed an early purchase bonus for Nioh 3. If you buy early, you unlock armor inspired by past heroes.
Exclusive Hellfrost Armor Set alongside the William (Youngblood) and Hiddy (Lone Wolf’s) legacy armor sets.
The bonus includes the Youngblood Armor (Samurai) worn by William in Nioh. It also includes the Lone Wolf’s Armor (Ninja) worn by Hiddy in Nioh 2. Players unlock both sets by redeeming the Hellfrost Armor Set in-game.
Story Overview
In Nioh 3, players follow Tokugawa Takechiyo during Japan’s Sengoku era. He stands next in line to become Shogun. However, his younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, wants the title for himself.
Because of this, Kunimatsu unleashes yokai across Japan. As a result, chaos spreads throughout the land. Now, Takechiyo must fight back with help from his guardian spirit, Kusanagi. Through battle, he works to secure his future as Shogun.
Characters and Voice Cast
The game features several well-known figures from Japanese history. These include Takeda Shingen, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yoritomo. Returning characters like Hattori Hanzo, Honda Tadakatsu, and Saito Fuku also appear.
New faces join the cast as well. Tao Tsuchiya voices Himiko, the queen of Yamatai-koku. Meanwhile, Kanata Hongo plays Tokugawa Kunimatsu.
Editor’s Take
When it comes to Souls-adjacent games, Nioh has always been my first pick. From the beginning, the series stood out for its fast combat and deep systems. In many ways, it feels more like a spiritual successor to Ninja Gaiden 1 than a “Souls clone.”
Nioh 2 delivered a strong prequel experience. It offered excellent character customization. In addition, co-op saw major improvements. Team Ninja also refined the combat and added new weapons.
Now, the studio looks ready to expand the formula again with Nioh 3. As one of my most anticipated games of 2026, I am excited to get hands-on with the Nioh 3 demo next month.
