Studios outline upcoming projects and anniversaries
4Gamer has published its 2026 end-of-year interviews with Japanese game creators. The 4Gamer 2026 interviews feature comments from 194 developers across the industry.
Many studios avoided firm announcements. Still, several shared early direction for projects and milestones planned for 2026.
Arc System Works confirmed that 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Kunio-kun series. The studio plans to celebrate the milestone with fans throughout the year.
RS34 also hinted at change. The developer stated that it is exploring new approaches for its next project. Details remain unannounced.
Idea Factory addressed the future of Neptunia. The company confirmed active development on the next numbered entry. The team views 2026 as a chance to build on the series’ recent momentum.
ATLUS used the 4Gamer 2026 interviews to highlight Persona’s 30th anniversary. Staff members confirmed that global initiatives and future announcements are in preparation. Inti Creates shared a similar outlook, pointing to upcoming developments for the Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX series.
M2 noted that its M2ShotTriggers label turns 10 in 2026. The company indicated that several projects are ready for reveal. Koei Tecmo echoed this sentiment across both Gust and Team NINJA.
CyberConnect2 confirmed plans to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Square Enix also pointed to Dragon Quest’s 40th anniversary, with additional initiatives planned for NieR.
SEGA, Nihon Falcom, Bandai Namco, LEVEL-5, and JP Games each stated that development continues steadily. All noted that announcements will come when timing allows.
Experience Inc. shares the clearest 2026 update
Experience Inc. delivered one of the most concrete updates in the 4Gamer 2026 interviews. Director Hajime Chikami confirmed that Demon Kill Demon will release in 2026.
The dungeon RPG is set five years after Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi. The team describes it as a darker title aimed at core players. Chikami also confirmed that new systems are in development.
Experience Inc. also reaffirmed plans for Mon-Yu. Development continues on the Spirit Hunter horror adventure series as well.
