Our Lainie Breakdown explores the return of a familiar face in the Operation Butterfly costume release and how the former UMP40 has been reimagined as a Physical Sentinel.
While she carries a familiar name, her role on the board has shifted: she is now the definitive defense penetration totem designed to help your heaviest hitters reach their maximum potential.

Lainie Overview

Lainie brings her curious spirit to the human team.
Lainie is a Physical support unit disguised as a Sentinel. Her main value is providing massive defense penetration (Def Pen) to her squad. Her performance is tied directly to Voymastina. If you are not running a high-tier Physical carry, her utility drops significantly.
- Seiyuu: Emi Uema
- The Gimmick: Lainie “clones” herself via her passive. This Simulacrum applies the defense ignore debuffs and can be controlled independently with its own skills.
- Stat Priorities: Her passive converts HP into Critical Chance. Make sure to balance your health pool to maximize her crit ceiling
Recommended Attachments:
- V0 to V2: Attack, Attack Boost, Crit Rate, Crit Damage
- V3+: Attack Boost, Attack, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, HP Boost
- Sets: Close Assault, Physical Boost, or Phase Strike
Lainie’s Skills & Keys

Victory Protocol triggers a synchronized assault on the battlefield.

Fixed keys unlock the full potential of OGAS power.
Lainie features native defense shredding. As you stack defense ignore, her damage output climbs.
Top Picks:
- Neural Bonds: When Lainie or her clone receives healing, the other unit is also healed for 20% of their maximum health.
- Sunlight’s Warmth: After being attacked, the next usage of the Ultimate skill Crushing Fang increases damage dealt by 15%.
- OGAS’ Might: Critical Damage dealt to enemies with 0 or lower defense is increased.
Situational:
As Lainie’s third slot depends on the encounter, swap keys based on the objective.
- Bad Stuff, Shoo!: When Lainie or her clone uses their respective Cognitive skills, the attack knocks the target back by 2 tiles. Use this for map displacement and breaking cover.
Tactical Note: The Lind Synergy
Lainie is a prime candidate for jail strategies with Lind’s fixed key. Just make sure to summon the clone first before using the jail mechanic to maximize your board presence.
Lainie Banner Notes

Wait… didn’t we meet in a different life?
Vertebrae Breakpoints:
- V0: Provides 20% Defense Pen. This is the baseline entry point for Physical teams.
- V3: Increases Defense Pen to 40%. This is the suggested stopping point for most serious players.
- V6: Only recommended if you are fully committing to the Physical meta. It increases her movement by 2 tiles and personal damage.
Disclaimer:
V0 > V3. Skip her if you aren’t building a dedicated Physical squad.Priority: V0 > V3
Is Lainie a Must-Pull?
Skip her if you are not building a dedicated Physical squad. She is a specialized tool for Gunsmoke; if you don’t care about competitive bossing, she is a safe skip.
Lainie Team Recommendations
Lainie belongs in very specific environments. Outside of Physical-focused squads, she struggles to find a home.
The Mono-Physical Core
- Voymastina (V6): The main character.
- Yoohee (V1): The secondary support/DPS.
- Lainie (V0/V3): The Def Pen totem.
- Flex Slot: Ullrid, Daiyan, or Faye (in that order of priority).
The Corro-Physical Hybrid
- Lind (V0): For displacement and jail utility.
- Klukai (V6): For AOE pressure.
- Voymastina (V6): Single target burst.
- Yoohee (V1): Synergy and buffs.
- Lainie (V0): To help Voy reach the 400% Def Pen threshold.
Perihelion | Lainie’s Signature Weapon

Perihelion turns the tide by shredding through enemy defenses.
- Effect: Ignores up to 40% of target defense. If other allies have the same effect, she ignores an additional 25%.
- Stability Damage: Deals fixed stability damage against targets with 0 or lower defense.
- The Verdict: Unless you are V6ing Lainie, the weapon is a luxury rather than a requirement. Juggernaut, Svarog, or the standard UMP40 work as fine placeholders.
Rerun Banner: Klukai

Worthless trash should be thankful for this second chance.
Klukai is the queen of map clears. Her kit centers on spreading Corrosion and resetting her Ultimate cooldown upon multiple kills. She remains the fastest farmer in the game.
- Best Breakpoint: V6 is the gold standard for total map domination. It automatically detonates Corrosive Infusion and Toxic Infiltration.
- Team: Pair her with Peritya and Mechty for the “Purple Rain” Corrosion meta.
Rerun Banner: Lewis

Target locked! Let’s show them what these toys can really do.
Lewis is a Fire Sentinel focused on Salvo-based damage and rotation efficiency. She performs well at V0 but scales meaningfully with Vertebrae that increase Ult uptime.
- Best Breakpoint: V0 is a safe stopping point for full functionality. V2 alters her rotation significantly for higher Ember generation.
- Team: Works best with Qiongjiu, Vector, and Sharkry. She can function in mixed teams if you have a reliable way to apply Overburn.

Closing Thoughts | Lainie Breakdown
The arrival of the Operation Butterfly outfit and Lainie’s debut marks a pivotal moment for Physical teams. While Lainie is not your primary damage dealer, she is the key that unlocks the maximum potential of units like Voymastina.
If you are a competitive Physical main looking to dominate Gunsmoke, grab Lainie at V0 or V3. If you need a map-clearing powerhouse, your pulls are better spent on the Klukai rerun. Both remain premium options. If you are holding out for DSR-50 or M-200, saving is also a perfectly valid route.
