The game will be available in both standard and Digital Deluxe Edition formats. The standard edition is priced at $49.99, with the Deluxe at $69.99

Early buyers will receive the “Early Purchase Bonus Set,” which includes exclusive items like the Wraith Charm and themed Kimono and Hair Ornament options. Those who pre-order can unlock the “Pre-Order Bonus Set” with unique cosmetics, including Cat Ears (Black/White) and classic Crimson Butterfly costumes for Mio and Mayu.

A Modern Take on a Classic Horror

Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake is a full remake of the beloved 2003 horror adventure, rebuilding every visual and gameplay element to deliver a more immersive and chilling experience.

The remake features refined textures, advanced lighting, and high-contrast shadows, creating a more haunting visual atmosphere. Audio has been rebuilt with spatial sound, heightening the tension by letting players hear every whisper, step, and spirit encounter in three-dimensional space.

Players will face wraiths that react unpredictably, reaching for hands, hiding in the dark, or attacking during exploration. Failing to avoid them causes Willpower Damage, leading directly into intense combat scenarios.

Reimagined Camera Obscura Combat

The Camera Obscura, the series’ iconic spirit-fighting device, returns with new mechanics. Aligning the focus point precisely inflicts more damage, and exceeding a damage threshold triggers Shutter Chance, where one well-timed photo can deal massive damage.

Landing a Fatal Frame interrupts and stuns enemies, while chaining it during a Shutter Chance activates Fatal Time, allowing multiple rapid shots to deliver heavy damage.

Players can use enhanced camera tools like focus, zoom, and filters for both exploration and combat. Zooming in enables precision attacks, while zooming out helps target multiple wraiths at once. The Paraceptual Filter adds new layers of strategy, extending shooting range or revealing past events through residual memories.

New Features and Interaction

A new system allows players to hold Mayu’s hand to restore Health and Willpower. However, if she falls during danger, players must help her up. Collectible Charms can now be equipped for various effects, and upgrading the Charm Bag expands the number of charms that can be used simultaneously.

With enhanced visuals, reworked sound, and new gameplay depth, Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake aims to preserve the spirit of the original while reinventing it for a new generation of horror fans.
