Capcom Opens Ōkami 20th Anniversary Teaser Site

Capcom has launched a teaser website to mark Ōkami’s upcoming 20th anniversary. The site sets the stage for a year of commemorative projects ahead of the game’s April 2026 milestone.

The main visual is a newly revealed calligraphy logo created by Masumi Narita. It signals the start of the anniversary rollout and gives fans an early look at the celebration.

Background and Gameplay

Originally developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom, Ōkami launched on PlayStation 2 on April 20, 2006. Since then, it has appeared on Wii, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. According to Capcom, players have bought over four million copies worldwide.

In addition, Capcom shared a message about the series’ legacy. It emphasized its connection with players and credited fan support for helping Ōkami reach this milestone. The anniversary is framed as both a celebration and a thank-you to the community.

The website also provides a brief overview of Ōkami’s history. However, it does not mention Okamiden, leaving the Nintendo DS follow-up unacknowledged.

In the game, players control Amaterasu, the sun goddess reborn as a white wolf. She journeys to cleanse the land of darkness. The game’s standout feature is the Celestial Brush, which allows players to draw directly onto the screen. Using this tool, players can solve puzzles, manipulate the environment, and defeat enemies with hand-drawn techniques.

A Glimpse at Ōkami’s Upcoming Sequel

Capcom’s anniversary celebration also points to the future. A teaser for the upcoming Ōkami sequel, first shown in December 2024 alongside Hideki Kamiya’s new studio Clovers, gives fans an early look at what’s next.

Anniversary Plans Ahead

As Capcom continues its anniversary campaign, the teaser website highlights a year-long celebration of Ōkami. In the coming months, the publisher plans to share details about commemorative goods and live events. While specifics remain limited, Capcom has made it clear that the series will remain in the spotlight as it reaches its 20th milestone.
