EA leans into Battlefield 3 and 4 roots with updated gunplay, destruction, and player customization.

Electronic Arts has released new trailers and details for Battlefield 6, highlighting the game’s overhauled multiplayer systems, a revamped Battlefield Portal, and the return of the classic class system. The game launches October 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC* via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Gameplay Trailer

The new gameplay trailer puts an emphasis on infantry and vehicle warfare, squad-based coordination, and full-environment destruction.

The new Kinesthetic Combat System deepens the player’s physical connection to their soldier through refined gunplay, crouch sprinting, drag-and-revive, and tactical movement.

Tactical Destruction lets players reshape the battlefield—collapse buildings, open new paths, and turn vehicles into wrecking balls.

Battlefield Portal Trailer

Portal is back, now enhanced with more customization tools and content from past Battlefield games. The trailer showcases classic and modern locations like Brooklyn, Tajikistan, and a reworked Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3.

  • Players can create, share, and explore custom experiences across nine maps at launch, with more post-launch content planned.
  • Modes include Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough, Escalation, Team Deathmatch, Domination, and more.

Combat, Classes & Destruction

The class system returns with four classic roles:

  • Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon each come with unique gadgets, weapons, and squad-focused traits.
  • Gunplay has been rebuilt from the ground up, and Drag & Revive returns to deepen squad tactics.
  • Destruction is now more strategic—bury enemies under debris or blast through walls to gain a tactical edge.

Open Beta

The open beta goes live starting next weekend with the above schedule.

Editor’s Take

With everything EA’s shown, Battlefield 6 looks like a course correction grounded in what worked for Battlefield 3 and 4. Tactical destruction, squad play, and full control over gameplay systems are front and center again. The return of a proper class system and single player are long overdue, and Portal’s expansion could give this game serious legs. Here’s hoping the maps and progression hold up when it all goes live.
