Daybreak replaces Focus Entertainment as publisher for the unannounced sequel

The unannounced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has appeared on the ESRB website, confirming that a sequel to Cold Iron Studios’ 2021 co-op shooter is on the way. The listing shows Daybreak Game Company, known for DC Universe Online and Planetside 2, as the publisher, replacing Focus Entertainment from the original release.

No official details have been shared yet, but the ESRB page describes the game as a third-person shooter featuring “realistic gunfire, explosions, and large splashes of blood,” suggesting that the sequel will continue the same squad-based action the series is known for.

We previously reviewed Aliens: Fireteam Elite and its Pathogen DLC, praising the atmospheric design and creature detail while noting its repetitive structure and lack of long-term variety. It’ll be interesting to see if this sequel expands the formula or leans further into live-service territory with Daybreak now at the helm.

Editor’s Take
Cold Iron’s original had potential but struggled with content depth. Daybreak’s involvement could bring stronger post-launch support, though it also raises fair questions about monetization and creative control. Until an official reveal, cautious optimism feels appropriate.
