Leon Must Die | Gameplay Trailer

Combat & Progression in Leon Must Die Mode

This new extra game mode centers on high-intensity combat action across areas from the main story. Success requires defeating a final boss while managing a race against the clock and fighting stronger enemy variants.

The Leon Must Die Mode features several unique systems:

  • Difficulty Ranks: Five increasingly difficult ranks test player precision.
  • Enhancement Gauge: Defeating enemies fills this meter to unlock exclusive enhancer abilities.
  • Randomized Runs: The order of areas and available ability options change with every playthrough.

Technical Features & Controller Support

The update includes some significant technical upgrades for PC users. Capcom has added official support for the DualSense wireless controller. This allows PC players to use haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and motion sensor features natively.

Performance has also been addressed with various bug fixes across all platforms. These corrections aim to stabilize the frame rate and resolve mechanical issues found in the initial release.

Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo & Merchandise

New clothing items based on the Leon Must Die Mode are now available on Amazon, including hoodies and sweatshirts. Looking ahead, the first Resident Evil amiibo figures will launch on July 30, 2026. This set includes Leon S. Kennedy and the new character Grace Ashcroft.

Leon Must Die Mode | Editor’s Take

The addition of the Leon Must Die mode suggests Capcom is leaning into the roguelike elements seen in other recent survival horror games and the randomizer fan mods people have made for the classic Resident Evil titles. The randomized progression and ability system give a reason for some players to return to the game after the credits roll. I like that the enhancement gauge forces a more aggressive playstyle. It rewards players for staying in the fight rather than running past enemies, which makes the gameplay loop have more tension and thrills. Here’s hoping that one of the other eventual content updates to Requiem is a Mercenaries mode.

Resident Evil Requiem is available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC (Steam | EGS)
