AK-12 makes a return in the latest footage. Her appearance in a snowy forest environment suggests a major shift in the narrative, potentially reuniting members of the original Task Force DEFY. Gameplay adjustments are a clear priority in this update. While the trailer remains cryptic about specific mode names, the community speculates this is a Phase Clash rework. The footage shows a top-down isometric view with refreshed UI elements for weapon swapping and objective tracking. This update appears to focus on smoother mission transitions and more varied enemy compositions during high-level tactical encounters. The gameplay shown is similar to a dungeon crawler.

Girls’ Frontline 2 2026 Preview | Editor’s Take

Seeing AK-12 again is a high point for the community. It feels like MICA Team is pulling the trigger on the legacy plotlines that fans have requested since launch. The new gameplay mode being a Phase Clash rework is the most important part of this reveal. The top-down, real-time gameplay looks incredibly fun and more engaging than the current Phase Clash mechanics. I look forward to it and welcome it whether it’s a replacement of Phase Clash or a new mode entirely.
