Magic Knight Rayearth Anime Reboot | October Release & Cast

Magic Knight Rayearth anime reboot details regarding the 2026 broadcast and voice cast have been revealed alongside a new teaser PV.

The series is scheduled to begin in October 2026. It will air every Wednesday night at 11:45 PM on the TV Asahi network within the IMAnimation W slot. This project serves as a modern revival of the 1990s classic based on the manga by CLAMP.

Main Voice Cast and Staff

The production team confirmed a completely new voice cast for the lead trio. Ayane Sakura takes the role of Hikaru Shidou. Rumi Okubo voices Umi Ryuuzaki, and Rie Takahashi provides the voice for Fuu Hououji.

UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS and E&H production are handling the animation. The staff features director Yui Miura and series composer Shigeru Murakoshi. Satomi Watanabe is in charge of character designs. A collaborative music team consisting of Yuki Kajiura, Shiho Terada, and Takumi Ozawa is creating the score.

Editor’s Take

Yuki Kajiura joining the music team is a massive win for this reboot. Her style fits the magical and dramatic tone perfectly. Replacing the original cast is a risk for a legacy series, but selecting Ayane Sakura and Rie Takahashi suggests a high quality production.

This late night slot choice indicates the story might lean into the darker elements of the manga. It gives a new generation a chance to experience an influential 90s work. The potential is high with former Madoka Magica staff on the project and personal favorite seiyuu of mine like Ayane Sakura and Rie Takahashi. CLAMP being involved also stops any worry about the art style moving too far from the original.
