Digimon Story: Time Stranger | Expansion DLC Arrives 2027

Digimon Story: Time Stranger expansion DLC news arrived today during the Digimon Con 2026 livestream.

Bandai Namco and Media.Vision confirmed that a large scale expansion is currently in development for the monster catching RPG. While the game is available now on several platforms, this new content is scheduled to launch in 2027.

Digimon Referendum Results and Game Impact

The results of the 139th Digimon Referendum were also revealed. This fan vote asked players which monsters they hope to see play an active role in future titles. Producer Ryosuke Hara stated that the expansion will partially reflect these results based on the world building requirements of the new story.

The Top 10 Referendum Results:

  1. Gammamon
  2. Loogamon
  3. Kazemon
  4. Gumdramon
  5. Pulsemon
  6. Herissmon
  7. Terriermon Assistant
  8. Meicoomon
  9. Ludomon
  10. Gekkomon

Story Teases: The Return of Aegiomon

One of the biggest reveals was the confirmation that Mutsumi Tamura is returning to voice Aegiomon. This character is a fan favorite from the mobile era. Her presence led to speculation from host Tsujimon about the setting of the expansion.

When asked if Aegiomon’s appearance implies a story set in a parallel world or the future, Hara called it an “excellent line of reasoning.” He declined to provide a direct answer. This tease suggests a significant shift in the narrative compared to the base game.

Editor’s Take

The announcement of more Digimon Story: Time Stranger expansion DLC on the way is fantastic. The Digimon IP is on a roll lately, with Digimon Beatbreak delivering a rich, mature story that resonates with longtime fans and newcomers alike. Time Stranger is clearly thriving in both sales and reception, a win that feels well earned after the long gap following Hacker’s Memory.

Speaking of, with Gekkomon landing in the top 10 on the votes, here’s hoping it makes the expansion, “ya know”?

With the Switch and Switch 2 versions arriving in July, Nintendo fans won’t have to wait much longer to explore the Digital World with their favorite partners.
