TYPE-MOON studio BB cites full voiceover production and polish as reasons for the push.
Bandai Namco and TYPE-MOON studio BB have delayed the full remake of Fate/EXTRA, titled Fate/EXTRA Record, from its previously announced 2025 release to spring 2026. The game is planned for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam.
Why the Delay?
Director Kazuya Nino shared a candid update via X, apologizing for the extended wait and explaining the unexpected challenges of developing a fully voiced game—even background NPCs have lines this time around.
“Ugh, I’m so sorry for keeping you waiting. This is my first time developing a fully voiced game, including even the minor characters, and I completely misjudged the schedule. I had no idea it would take this much time… Instead, I think we’ve created a game that feels immersive and joyful. Please, just give me a little more time!”
What to Expect
Fate/EXTRA Record is a full-scale remake of the 2010 PSP original, rebuilding the Moon Cell Holy Grail War from the ground up. With a modern battle system, full voice acting, and updated visuals, this version aims to reintroduce the story for both returning fans and new players alike.
