Today, Nintendo unveiled the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 with a brief reveal trailer, showcasing key features of the next-generation console. The trailer offered a first look at the system’s updated design, its dock, and a highlight of its backwards compatibility with physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. However, some titles may require patches to function properly on the new hardware.

The trailer also featured a sneak peek at what appears to be a brand-new Mario Kart game. Notably, the footage shows 24 players racing simultaneously, which is the highest player count in the series’ history. While no official confirmation has been made about the game’s title or release date, this glimpse hints at exciting new possibilities for multiplayer on the Nintendo Switch 2.

In addition to the announcement, Nintendo confirmed a special Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2nd, where more details about the system, including its features and launch lineup, will be revealed. The exact time of the Direct will be announced at a later date, with a release date planned for 2025.
